As already known to Aristarch of Samos in 300 B.C.E. the earth rotates around the sun. Unfortunatly this wasn't observed adequate. Since thousends of years man dreams of heaven and the stars, but it was not until the great disturbances at the beginning of the last century and the following Cold War as everything were ready to really start the departure into space.

Hermann Oberth laid down the theoretical fundametals of spaceflight in his book "Die Rakete zu den Planetenräumen".

Hermann Oberth was born in 1894 in Siebenbürgen. He was a shool teacher in physics and mathematics, visonary of spaceflight and comitted freethinker not only in the field of astronautics. 1922 Oberth published his pioneering book "Die Rakete zu den Planetenräumen". Handed over to the university of Heidelberg as a dissertation, the writing was declined because no one felt able to judge it.

Wernher von Braun was the directing genius of the german rocket development and the american Apollo moon-landing program.

Wernher von Braun was head of engineering of the rocket development at the Heeresversuchstelle Peenemuende and in charge on the development of the Aggregat 4/ V-2. After World War Two he has been placed to Amerika and conveyanced the idea of a flight to the moon in many ways there. At last he leaded the development of the Saturn V rocket, which carryed the first men to another celestial body.

Aggregat 4 (V2) - First of man made object which ever reached space. A little effusive sometimes called mother of all rockets.

Developed during World War Two at the Heeresversuchstelle Peenemuende, it was an Aggregat 4 which touched outer space first on 3rd October 1942. On later tests the rocket climbed up into heaven 184 km. The first pictures from Earth taken from outer space were shoot by a V-2 which was carryed from Germany to Amerika after World War Two.

Sergei Koroljow was the directing genius of the Russian rocket development after World War Two. His developments carryed first man into space.

Alike Wernher von Braun in the United States of Amerika but for other reasons, Koroljow stayd detracted of the light of publicity in Soviet Union for longer times.
